Getting Affordable Insurance
There is a lot of talk today regarding the direction of healthcare in the country. I know that it has a lot of people stressed including myself. The requirements and stipulations that are going to be placed on us regarding this coverage is a little over-the-top for me as well as the fines for not adhering to the requirements. There a lot of Americans today that simply cannot afford insurance of any kind whether it is health insurance or car insurance. Statistics show that approximately one in four families do not have affordable health insurance coverage. We and my family are in that situation due to unemployment. My husband recently was hired by a company and we found that we have to get health insurance coverage that offered through the company or be fined. It’s not an option these days. So we are scrambling to make ends meet with that deadline fast approaching and the requirement to get CIGNA health insurance.
As I watch coverage on the TV with regard to all of the natural disasters happening around us I see Rudy and on the people of Missouri. They lost everything in the tornadoes that came through and in the news coverage we learned that several did not have homeowners insurance. Even though this is a stipulation to get a loan a lot of people that have had their homes paid off have decided to forgo homeowners insurance because of the cost. If we search around I know that we will be able to find cheap home insurance online that will fit into our budget, it’s just a matter juggling our bills so that we can make ends meet at the end of the month.
I often wondered how my mother was able to make ends meet being retired and on fixed income. I know that she had traditional Medicare to cover a lot of her health care needs but at the end of the month there were still out-of-pocket expenses that she needed to pay. I don’t believe she was aware of coverage that was available to her in her retirement years that would help supplement her out-of-pocket expenses. A Medicare advantage plan or Medicare Part C as it is otherwise known as would’ve been perfect for her to help balance her budget. In addition to helping with her health care costs Medicare Part D was also available to her to help with her prescription costs. I just found that 1-800-MEDIGAP could’ve been the best resource for her to help her get the coverage she needed.
